The owners of a 2004 Saturn Ion contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime overnight from the parking space of their apartment complex.

The Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Saturn.

Ten minutes later, officers from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Saturn with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Saturn to the area of 7th Avenue and Thomas Road in Phoenix.

The Saturn was occupied when located.  The Phoenix PD helicopter also tracked the Saturn and assisted in following the stolen Saturn until additional units could assist in a traffic stop.  The Phoenix PD marked units attempted to make a traffic stop on the stolen Saturn near 10th Avenue and Adams Street in the downtown Phoenix area.  The driver failed to yield and fled from the police.  The marked units terminated the pursuit and allowed the police helicopter to track the stolen Saturn.  At 7th Avenue and Buckeye Road, the two suspects bailed out of the stolen Saturn and fled on foot.  Both suspects were arrested without further incident and later booked on felony charges.  The Saturn was processed for evidence and later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Saturn Ion in February 2004 at Saturn of Tempe in Arizona.
