The owners of a 2006 Pontiac Solstice contacted the Mesa Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.  The owner advised that an ex-boyfriend took the Pontiac without permission after an argument.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Pontiac.

A short while later, officers in the police helicopter from Mesa PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Pontiac with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Pontiac and found it being driven on city streets.

The Mesa PD and the Salt River PD officers conducted a traffic stop on the stolen Pontiac.  The driver was identified as the ex-boyfriend who was listed as the suspect.  The driver was arrested for DUI and possession of illegal drugs.  Auto theft charges are pending further investigation by the Mesa PD auto theft detectives.  The Pontiac was recovered and returned to the owner in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Pontiac Solstice in March 2006 by Direct Sales.
