The Trenton Police Department discovered a stolen vehicle pattern involving numerous vehicles being stolen in a specific area of the City of Trenton, New Jersey. The department established a task force and began using various investigative techniques to gather information relating to the thefts. Several months passed with no break in the investigation until the owner of a Honda Civic equipped with a LoJack Unit reported the vehicle stolen to the Trenton PD. The Trenton PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda Civic.

Minutes later an alert officer assigned to a Morrisville Police Department, Pennsylvania, marked police vehicle picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Morrisville PD officer tracked the signal to a vehicle salvage yard located just outside Morrisville in Falls Township, Pennsylvania. The Morrisville PD officer drove the police vehicle into the salvage yard and quickly located the Honda reported stolen in Trenton, New Jersey. The officer reported his situation to the Bucks County Police Radio and the Morrisville Police Department HQ. The Chief of Police in Morrisville along with Falls Township officers arrived to assist. After two other stolen vehicles were identified at this location Trenton PD along with the Pennsylvania State Police arrived on location. After a series of interviews and interrogations, it was decided that the Trenton PD Auto Theft Task Force would conduct the investigation and provide investigative progress to Morrisville PD, Falls Township PD and all other related agencies. After an extensive ongoing investigation, it was recently announced that police had identified approximately 73 vehicles that had been stolen and processed through two auto salvage yards. Investigators declined to disclose the location of the salvage yards as the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are anticipated.

Due to the efforts of the Morrisville PD, dedicated Morrisville PD officer, a criminal organization has been dismantled, corrupt salvage yards have been closed, an arrest has been made and the citizens of the region can be more assured of the safety of their vehicles.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in August 2000 at Burns Honda in Marlton, New Jersey.
