The owner of a 2013 Melroe Excavator contacted the Columbus Police Department to report it missing.

The Columbus PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Melroe.

A short while later a trooper/investigator from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Columbus Vehicle Theft Unit (VTU) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Melroe with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the trooper tracked the Melroe to a remote commercial area of Columbus.

Surveillance was established on it and after some time the Melroe was impounded and later returned to the owner.  Because of the quick recovery the Melroe was not damaged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Melroe Excavator in May 2013 via Commercial Sales.
