The owner of a Ford F150 pickup contacted the Dallas Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen. The owner left her Ford running and ran inside her apartment because she forgot her phone. When she returned to her Ford, it was missing.
The Dallas PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Later, officers from the Dallas PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Ford to the 1400 block of Carroll St, where they observed it traveling northbound. There were five juvenile suspects inside the Ford. When officers attempted to stop this stolen Ford, the driver jumped out and fled on foot. He was not apprehended. The 4 passengers remained in the stolen Ford. They stated they did not know this Ford was stolen and identified the suspect who fled by name. An arrest warrant for this suspect is pending. The Ford pickup was recovered in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Ranger in April 2006 at Grand Prairie Ford in Texas.
