The owners of a 2004 Honda Accord contacted the Los Angeles Police Department Rampart Division to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The LAPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short time later, the LAPD Air “3” flight officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their aircraft and patrol vehicles.   Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the flight officers tracked the Honda to the area of the 6th Street and Vermont Ave. Patrol officers from the LAPD Rampart Division responded to the area and located the Honda. The officers conducted a traffic stop and took the offender into custody for auto theft related charges without incident.

The Honda was impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in August 2007 at Spirit Honda in El Monte, CA.
