The owners of a 2006 Chrysler Sebring contacted the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime overnight from the assigned parking space at an apartment complex in San Tan Valley.

The sheriff’s deputy verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chrysler.

A short while later, troopers from the Arizona Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chrysler with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the Chrysler to an area east of Interstate 10 near Warner Road and Hardy Drive in Tempe.

Detectives from the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force responded to the area and assisted in the search.  The auto theft detectives tracked the signal to a fenced commercial yard where the vehicle was concealed.  The commercial yard was divided in to several smaller lots that were individually leased.  The person who leased this storage lot could not be located.  The auto theft detectives later obtained a search warrant for the lot where the stolen Chrysler was located.  The Chrysler was recovered in good condition and impounded for safe keeping.  Follow up investigation is being conducted by the task force detectives.
