The owner of a 2007 Land Rover Range Rover sport utility vehicle came out of their home and discovered that their vehicle was stolen sometime during the night. They contacted the Miami-Dade Police Department to report the theft. The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Land Rover.

Later that morning a Miami Gardens Police Department auto theft detective, en route to work, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Range Rover on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The auto theft detective began tracking the stolen Land Rover by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The auto theft detective, along with their backup, located the Land Rover abandoned in an apartment complex parking lot near the corner of Flamingo Road and Pembroke Road. As the Land Rover was located in Miramar Police Department’s jurisdiction, they responded to recover the vehicle. The Land Rover was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2007 Land Rover Range Rover in March 2007 at Land Rover of South Dade, Miami, Florida.
