The owners of a 2000 Mercedes Benz S500 contacted the Prince George’s County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home in the 1600 block Robert Lewis Avenue in the Upper Marlboro area of Prince George’s County, Maryland.

The Prince George’s County PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes.

A short while later detectives from the Washington Area Vehicle Enforcement and flight officers in the Prince George’s County Aviation unit picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopters.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the Mercedes to the 4100 block Suit Road in the Forestville area of Prince George’s County, Maryland. At that location, detectives observed the Mercedes parked and unoccupied. Surveillance of the Mercedes by detectives resulted in the arrest of the theft suspect.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2000 Mercedes Benz S500 in December 1999 at Mercedes Benz of Greenwich in Connecticut.
