The owner of a 2010 Mazda Miata 2-door convertible parked their car just north of a local tavern in the 6700 block of Collins Avenue. After several hours, the owner returned to where they parked their Mazda and discovered it missing. The owner contacted the Miami Beach Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mazda.

A short while later a Miami Beach PD officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Miata on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC).  The officer began tracking the stolen Miata by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The officer, along with their backup, located the Miata parked in a parking lot in the 6800 block of Collins Avenue. The Miata was recovered with no theft damage, released to the owner, who responded to the scene and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2010 Mazda Miata in February 2011 by Maroone Honda of Miami in Florida.
