The owner of a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado contacted the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen from his residence, for the second time, in the Southwest Area Command.  The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Within eleven minutes of the activation, officers with the Albuquerque Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their marked and undercover vehicles.  Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Chevrolet, while it was mobile, to a commercial area in the Valley Area Command.  The Chevrolet was located parked on the side of the street occupied by two subjects.  The offenders had removed the stolen Chevrolet’s issued license plate and sports stickers on the back window; this is usually done in an attempt to alter the appearance and conceal the stolen vehicle status from law enforcement.  The Auto Theft Detectives arrived on scene and took over the investigation.  The Chevrolet was safely recovered and released back to the owner at the scene.
