LoJack® System Helps Los Angeles Police Department Recover Stolen Toyota Camry

The owners of a 2006 Toyota Camry contacted the Oxnard Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The Oxnard PD officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Twenty-Eight (28) minutes later, in the area of Woodman Ave and Bessemer Street, the Los Angeles Police Department Van Nuys patrol officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to the area of Woodman Ave and Erwin Street. The officers noted that the Toyota had paper plates. Officers conducted a felony traffic stop and took the suspect into custody for auto theft related charges with incident.

The Toyota was impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in January 2006 by Rinke Toyota in Center Line, MI.
