The construction company secured the Lincoln welder rental unit at the construction site for the night. Upon arrival the next day the construction crew found the welder missing. They immediately contacted the San Antonio Police Department and filed a theft report.

The San Antonio PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the State and Federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the welder.

Later officers from the San Antonio PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen welder with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, officers tracked the signal to a residential area. The strongest signal indicated the welder was in a vacant house. Auto theft officers came to the location and using the Hand Held Tracker determined the welder was inside the residence. After obtaining consent to search, officers located the welder inside the living room of the home.  The welder was stored at the police impound lot pending release to the proper owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2014 Lincoln Trailer Mounted Welder in August 2014 by Commercial Sales.
