The owners of a 2015 Toyota 4Runner contacted the Sacramento Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim indicated she was doing her grocery shopping and when she went to check out noticed the keys had been stolen from her purse. She then discovered her new Toyota had been stolen from the parking lot.

The Sacramento PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota 4Runner.

Just 30 minutes later, deputies from the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Toyota to the area of 47th Street and Stockton Blvd. The Toyota was unoccupied and parked on the street. There was no damage to the Toyota.

The victim was contacted, responded to the scene and drove her Toyota home.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota 4Runner in February 2015 by Roseville Toyota in California.
