The owners of a 2004 Chevrolet Impala contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of an apartment complex.
The Phoenix police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

A short while later, auto theft detectives from the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the Chevrolet to a neighborhood near 83rd Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix.

The Chevrolet was found unoccupied and parked on a side street in the neighborhood. The task force detectives conducted surveillance before recovering the stolen Chevrolet. The Chevy Impala was processed for evidence and later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Impala in August 2005 by Power Chevrolet Arrowhead in Peoria, Arizona.
