The owners of a 2000 Honda Civic contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen.

The Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Fifteen minutes later, troopers from the Arizona Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the Honda to the area of State Route 202 and 24th Street in Phoenix.

The stolen Honda was located unoccupied on a side street in the neighborhood south of the freeway.  Auto theft detectives from the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force and the Phoenix PD responded and set up surveillance on the stolen Honda.  A short while later three suspects were observed getting into the stolen Honda.  The detectives apprehended all three suspects without incident.  Follow up investigation revealed that all three suspects had prior convictions for auto theft.  During the investigation, a second Honda Civic that was stolen by these same suspects was recovered by the Phoenix PD detectives.  All three suspects were arrested and charged with the two vehicle thefts.  The Honda Civic was processed for evidence and later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in May 2000 by Tempe Honda in Arizona.
