The owners of a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer contacted the Pasadena Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their son’s high school parking lot while he was at football practice.
The Pasadena PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the State and Federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Trailblazer.
Just fifteen (15) minutes later officers from the Houston Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet Trailblazer with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Chevrolet to fast food outlet located at North Loop East and Homestead. The Chevrolet was unoccupied so the Officers called for backup and an unmarked unit to set up surveillance on the vehicle. Shortly thereafter a white Chevrolet Impala occupied with two suspects pulled alongside the stolen Trailblazer. The passenger exited the Impala and entered the Trailblazer and attempted to drive away. Officers blocked the Chevrolet in with their patrol vehicle and the driver jumped from the Trailblazer and attempted to flee. Officers quickly apprehended him. Other patrol officers initiated a felony stop of the Impala and arrested the driver. Both suspects were taken downtown for charges. The driver of the stolen Trailblazer was charged with Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle and the driver of the Impala was charged as an accessory to theft.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Trailblazer in April 2008 by CarMax #7116 Houston South in Texas.
