The owners of a 2009 Toyota Tundra contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from the driveway of their residence.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Fifteen minutes later, an officer from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Toyota to the area of 51st Avenue and Indian School Road.

The Toyota was mobile and the officer observed the Toyota travelling in the opposite direction on a major city street.  By the time the patrol officer could get turned around the Toyota was out of sight.  The officer tracked the signal to the 4600 block of west Clarendon Avenue, where the Toyota was found abandoned on a side street in the neighborhood.  No suspects were located in the area.  The Toyota was recovered and processed for evidence.  The Toyota Tundra was later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Tundra in March 2009 by Camelback Toyota in Phoenix, Arizona.
