The owners of a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer contacted the Columbus Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen overnight from their residence.

The Columbus PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

A short while later detectives from the Columbus PD Auto Theft Unit picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the Chevrolet to an industrial area of Columbus.

Because of the quick recovery the suspect(s) were unable to strip it or use it to commit additional crimes.  The stolen Chevrolet was impounded and later returned to the owner.  This matter is to be further investigated by the Columbus PD Auto Theft Unit.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Trailblazer in August 2005 by Arnold Chevrolet in Amityville, New York.
