The owner of a Lincoln Navigator left the vehicle with a repair shop in Tacoma for an extended period of time to have mechanical and body repair work completed. When he went to the shop after a few months he discovered the Navigator was not there and had been moved to another location. When he arrived at that location he found no work had been performed on the Navigator. The keys were not with the Navigator but were promised to be provided the next day. When he returned the following day the Navigator was gone and nobody claimed to know where it was.

The theft was reported to the Tacoma Police Department who verified the report and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Navigator.

A short time later, officers with the Tacoma PD and Ruston Police Department as well as a Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Deputy received the LoJack signal from the stolen Navigator. They tracked it to the 4800 block of North Pearl Street and determined the signal was coming from inside a large garage with multiple bays and garage doors. Additional investigation by the Pierce County Auto Theft Task Force (ACE) determined which specific garage space the Navigator was stored in. A search warrant was obtained to open the door and the Lincoln Navigator was recovered intact and undamaged. There was also evidence of an ongoing chop shop operation inside the garage.

The investigation is continuing with a suspect identified and an arrest anticipated.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Lincoln Navigator in April 2013 by Lakewood Ford in Washington.
