The owners of a 2015 Toyota Corolla contacted the Tracy Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim indicated he was at a friend’s house in the City of Oakland when a third individual arrived and confronted the victim at gunpoint and demanded his car keys. The victim, in fear of his life, gave the suspect his keys and the suspect fled in the now stolen Toyota. The victim then fled and had a friend drive him home to Tracy where Tracy PD took a courtesy theft report as the crime occurred in Oakland.
The Tracy PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Less than an hour later officers from the Oakland Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to the area of 9000 Seneca and observed the vehicle parked and abandoned on the street.
The officers had the Toyota towed and stored to be processed for possible suspect finger prints.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Corolla in April 2015 by Roseville Toyota in Roseville, CA, and sold by Livermore Toyota in July 2015.
