The owner of a 2010 BMW 328i 4-door sedan contacted the Miami Gardens Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.

Immediately upon activation, an Opa Locka Police Department officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW 328i on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The officer began tracking the stolen BMW by following the directional and audible cues on the PTC screen. The officer located the BMW as it was driving westbound from N.W. 151st Street and N.W. 22nd Avenue. Upon arrival of sufficient backup, the officers activated their emergency warning lights and siren and “lit up” the stolen BMW. The officers conducted a “felon stop” on the BMW at N.W. 151st Street and N.W. 27th Avenue. The officers detained the driver of the BMW until the Miami Gardens PD arrived to continue the investigation. The driver was arrested for Grand Theft Auto. The BMW 328i was recovered, released to the owner, who responded to the scene, and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2010 BMW 328i in January 2010 by Braman BMW in West Palm Beach, Florida.
