The owner of a 2005 Toyota RAV-4 sport utility vehicle contacted the Broward County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime during the night. The responding deputy prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.

Later that morning a Broward County SO deputy picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen RAV-4 on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The deputy began tracking the stolen RAV-4 by following the directional and audible cues on the PTC screen. The deputy, along with their backup, located the RAV-4 abandoned in a parking lot in the 2900 block of North Dixie Highway. The RAV-4 was recovered with ignition damage, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2005 Toyota RAV-4 in July 2005 by Expressway Toyota in Miami, Florida.
