The owner of a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 contacted the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen. The owner stated it was stolen from the area of Gibson and San Pedro. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.

Officers with the Albuquerque PD and detectives with the Auto Theft unit picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their unmarked patrol and undercover vehicles. Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Dodge to the area of Carlisle and Silver. An offender was observed exiting the Dodge and he ran on foot jumping over a brick wall into a residential yard. The offender eluded capture but the case is still on-going. The Dodge was processed for evidence and was towed from the scene for safekeeping to be released to the owner at a later time. The Dodge had extensive damage to the ignition but no other obvious signs of damage.
