The owners of a 1998 Honda Civic contacted the Ontario Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later an officer from the La Verne Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer broadcasted the direction of the tracking to other units as possible east bound on Foothill Blvd from Wheeler Ave. Another officer west of that location headed east and observed the Honda pulling up at a red light at Foothill Blvd and Chelsea.  When the suspects saw the approaching unit, they turned into a parking lot and quickly exited the Honda.  The officers deployed on the Honda and detained the suspects without further incident.  The driver was later booked for vehicle theft and the passenger for receiving stolen property.  The undamaged Honda was stored for safe keeping.  Case referred to detectives for filing.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in September 1998 by Power Honda in Costa Mesa, CA.
