The owners of a 2005 GMC Yukon contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the 1700 block Thames Street in the Fells Point area of Baltimore City, Maryland. Investigation conducted by police on the scene found that the keys to the GMC were stolen from a dining table while the owners were having dinner at a local restaurant in the area. Suspects then located the GMC parked nearby using the key fob to unlock the vehicle which also activates the headlights.

The Baltimore City PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the GMC.

A short while later detectives from the Regional Auto Theft Team and Baltimore County Aviation Unit, “County Air 1” picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen GMC with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the GMC to the intersection of Boulder Crest Court and Fair Ridge Road in the White Marsh area of Baltimore County, Maryland. At that location, detectives observed the GMC parked and unoccupied. Detectives recovered the undamaged GMC and notified the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2005 GMC Yukon in October 2004 by J. Koon’s GMC in Vienna, Virginia.
