The owner of a Ford F350 pickup contacted the Plano Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. The owner parked his Ford in a restaurant parking lot and when he returned to it, he found it missing.

The Plano PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Later, officers and the helicopter from the Dallas Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and their helicopter.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers and helicopter tracked the stolen Ford pickup and observed it driving into a hotel parking lot.  Upon seeing the officers, the suspect jumped out of the stolen Ford pickup and fled on foot.  He was apprehended and arrested. The steering column to the Ford pickup was damaged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F350 pickup in February 2002 by Ken Nichols Ford in Ft Worth, Texas.
