The owner of a 2002 Nissan Altima contacted the Albuquerque Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen while at the gym. The owner stated his locker was broken into and the offender took his vehicle key along with personal belongings. The Officer gave the victim a ride to his residence to discover the victim’s residence was burglarized. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

Within twenty minutes of the activation, the Albuquerque Police Department Auto Theft Detectives and a New Mexico State Police Officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan in the Northeast Area Command with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the Detectives tracked the stolen Nissan through several area commands. The Nissan stopped at an area casino at which time the Auto Theft Detectives coordinated with New Mexico State Police and Isleta Police Department to safely recover the stolen Nissan. Two subjects were taken into custody without incident.

The Nissan was recovered with no obvious damage only missing its license plate which was later located inside of the vehicle. The victim was transported to the recovery scene by the original reporting Officer to take possession of his Nissan. The owner stated he was very happy and thankful that he purchased LoJack for his Nissan.
