A used car dealership in Tacoma was the victim of vehicle theft when a “customer” swapped the key fob for this Lexus during a demonstration ride. Later that evening the Lexus was stolen from the lot.

When the theft was discovered it was reported to the Tacoma Police Department who verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lexus.

A short time later a Washington State Patrol Cessna flying over south Seattle picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following directional and audible cues from the PTC, the car was determined to be within a two block area on Delridge Way SW. The Seattle Police Department officers, also equipped with PTC’s, responded and located the Lexus at a home improvement store parking lot in the 7300 block of Delridge Way SW.

It was abandoned and apparently not damaged. The Lexus was released to the dealer in Tacoma.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Lexus GS460 in June 2008 by Lexus of Tacoma in Fife, Washington.
