A used car dealership in the City of Manteca contacted the Manteca Police Department to report the theft of a 2006 BMW 330. The dealership indicated a female suspect entered the dealership and made arrangements to purchase the BMW. The suspect filled out credit applications and sales agreements and left the dealership with the BMW. It was later determined information supplied by the suspect was in fact false.

The Manteca PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Just 15 minutes later, officers from the Manteca PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers and a member of the Delta RATT Task Force tracked the BMW to a motel parking lot near Yosemite Ave and Pestana Street. The BMW was parked and unattended. The Investigator from the task force set up surveillance on the BMW and was rewarded later when the female suspect was taken into custody. The suspect has numerous prior arrests and is on currently on probation. She was arrested for auto theft and receiving stolen property.

The victim was contacted, responded and took possession of the BMW.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW 330 in November 2005 by Weatherford BMW in Berkley, CA.
