The owners of a 1998 Acura Integra contacted the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from a parking lot of a hospital in Victorville.  Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura.

A short while later a deputy from the Adelanto station picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Acura with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the Acura to Cambridge and Pearmain where he observed the vehicle turning South on Cambridge.  The stolen Acura yielded to the deputy and stopped.  The driver was taken into custody without further incident.  During a field investigation, the suspect admitted he had stolen the Acura from a hospital parking lot in Victorville.  When asked how he arrived at the parking lot in Victorville, the suspect told the deputy that he had stolen a 1997 Honda from a parking lot in Adelanto earlier and had used a “shaved key” to drive both vehicles.  The suspect cooperated with the deputy and led him to the parking lot in Victorville at which time the deputy located a 1997 Honda Accord, confirmed its stolen status and recovered that one also.  The suspect was booked on two felony charges at the High Desert Detention Center.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Acura Integra in November 1998 by Acura of Glendale in California.
