The owners of a Chevrolet Tahoe contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen.  The vehicle was last seen parked on the street in front of the apartment complex.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

A short while later troopers from the Arizona Highway Patrol and officers from the Phoenix Police Department  picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers and troopers tracked the Chevrolet to a neighborhood near 17th Street and Adams Street in Phoenix.

The officers located the stolen Chevy Tahoe unoccupied on a side street in the neighborhood.  The Chevy was recovered in good condition and processed for evidence.  The Chevy was towed from the scene for safe keeping and later returned to the owners.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Tahoe in July 1999 by Brown and Brown Chevrolet in Mesa, Arizona.
