The owners of a 2014 Ford F150 contacted the Houston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residence sometime during the overnight period.

The Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the State and Federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Later the Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter unit 102 lifted off from Regional Headquarters for a routine patrol flight and picked up the silent LoJack signal as soon as they were airborne; from the stolen Ford pickup with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the air crew tracked the Ford to Sommerville Avenue where they located it parked and abandoned in an apartment complex. A State Trooper was directed to the location to identify and recover the pickup.  The Ford was stored pending the notification of the owner. No suspects in this case.
