The owner of a Land Rover contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of San Diego.

The San Diego PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Land Rover.

Within 4 minutes, officers from San Diego PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Land Rover with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Land Rover to a residential neighborhood near the 2000 block of Prestwick Street, where the vehicle was found abandoned.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Land Rover Discovery in June 2004 by Land Rover in Houston, Texas.
