The owners of a Ford F250 pickup contacted the Pima County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle had been stolen.

The Pima County SO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Officers from the Phoenix Police Department later picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to a neighborhood near 48th Lane and Baseline Road in Phoenix.

The patrol officers located the stolen Ford in a driveway of a residence. After making contact with the occupants of the residence, it was determined that an acquaintance of the vehicle owner parked the Ford at this location. The Ford was recovered in good condition and towed for safekeeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F250 in March 2000 by Lexus of Tucson in Arizona.
