The owner of a 2003 Ford F150 contacted the Buena Park Police Department to report his vehicle was stolen.  The owner parked his Ford on the street near his bedroom window because it was loaded with about $10,000 in tools and equipment.  At about 0330 in the morning he heard his Ford being started and driven away.

The Buena Park PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Only four minutes after it was entered into the system deputies from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Compton picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies found the Ford traveling on San Vincente in the city of Compton.  The Ford was being driven by a male subject. The deputies followed the Ford and eventually stopped it without incident.  The deputies found the Ford full of tools and equipment.  The onboard tool boxes were still intact and the locks had not been compromised.  The deputies were aware that vehicles with construction equipment are a targeted vehicle and called TRAP investigators to assist.  The subject driving the Ford was arrested for the theft of the vehicle and was found to have two prior convictions for auto theft. The Ford and all his equipment were returned to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F150 in June 2005 by Commercial Sales in San Francisco, CA.
