The victim of a kidnapping, robbery and vehicle theft contacted the Tempe Police Department to report the crime.  The victim advised that he was kidnapped and tied up for a couple days while the suspects took his money out of the ATM.  The suspects stole four vehicles belonging to the victim, including a 2005 Nissan Maxima that was equipped with the LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System.  The other three vehicles taken were a 2004 Jaguar, 2002 Cadillac Escalade and a 2002 Ford F150 pickup.

The Tempe PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

A short while later troopers from the Arizona Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the Nissan to a neighborhood near Interstate 10 and 59th Avenue in Phoenix.

Detectives from the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force responded to the area with PTCs and located the Nissan parked in the carport of a residence.  The undercover task force detectives established a perimeter and set up surveillance.  The Tempe PD robbery detectives responded to the scene and obtained a search warrant for the residence.  The DPS SWAT team executed the search warrant and detained five adults.  The Tempe PD robbery detectives conducted interviews and collected evidence reference the kidnapping and robbery.  The Vehicle Theft Task Force detectives recovered the Nissan Maxima, Jaguar and Cadillac Escalade, all in good condition.  The Ford F150 was not at the residence and is still listed as stolen.  All the vehicles were towed from the scene for safe keeping.  The Tempe PD robbery detectives booked one suspect for possession of drugs for sale.  Further investigation is being conducted by the Tempe PD robbery detectives reference the kidnapping and robbery.

Thanks to the LoJack® System, three of the four stolen vehicles were recovered in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Maxima in May 2005 by Peoria Nissan in Arizona.
