The owners of a 2003 Nissan Altima contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen sometime over night.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

Ten minutes later, troopers from the Arizona Highway Patrol, detectives from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Nissan to a neighborhood near 30th Avenue and McDowell Road in Phoenix.

The Maricopa County SO detectives found the Nissan parked on a side street unoccupied.  The detectives from the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force conducted an extended surveillance on the stolen Nissan.  No suspects were observed coming back to the Nissan, so it was later recovered and processed for evidence.  The Nissan was recovered in good condition and towed from the scene for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Altima in January 2003 by West Valley Nissan in Glendale, Arizona.
