The owners of a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country van contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from in front of their residence on the 3000 block of W Wabansia in Chicago’s Buck town neighborhood. The Chicago PD responded to the scene and after verifying facts as presented entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chrysler.

Minutes later officers from the Illinois State Police, Cook County Sheriff’s Police and the Chicago PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chrysler with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  The Illinois State Police tracked the Chrysler to the 3100 block of W Warren Ave where they were quickly joined by the Chicago PD. The Cook County Sheriff’s Police got a wave off from the officers on scene. The Chrysler was recovered parked and unoccupied within minutes of its reported theft. The Chrysler had damage to its driver side window and ignition, likely caused during the theft. The Illinois State Police recovered and towed the Chrysler for investigation.
