The owners of a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu contacted the Tucson Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen.
The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.
Eight minutes later, deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Chevy Malibu to a vehicle storage yard in Tucson.
The Tucson police officers responded to the scene and recovered the Chevy Malibu. Further investigation is being conducted by the Tucson Police Department.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Malibu in August 2009 by O’Rielly Chevrolet in Tucson, Arizona.
