The owners of a 2005 Ford F250 pickup contacted the Tucson Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen sometime overnight from the hotel parking lot.

The Tucson PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short while later, officers from the Tucson PD and deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to a residential area near 5th Street and north Rosemont Blvd. in Tucson.

The stolen Ford F250 was found unoccupied in a parking lot of an apartment complex.  The Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force detectives responded to the area and conducted surveillance.  The Ford was later recovered and processed for evidence.  The Ford was towed for safe keeping and later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F250 pickup in July 2005 by Mel Clayton Ford in Phoenix, Arizona.
