The owners of a Ford F250 pickup contacted the Pima County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime overnight from the parking lot of an apartment complex.

The Pima County SO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short while later, deputies from the Pima County SO and officers from the Tucson Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers and deputies tracked the Ford to an apartment complex near Drexel Road and South Morris Blvd. in Tucson.

The Ford was found unoccupied in the parking lot.  Detectives with the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force responded and conducted an extended surveillance.  The Ford was later occupied by the suspect, who was taken into custody without incident.  The suspect was booked for the theft of the vehicle.  The Ford was processed for evidence and towed from the scene for safe keeping.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F250 pickup in June 2004 by Lou Grubb Chrysler/Jeep/ Dodge in Phoenix, Arizona.
