The owners of a 2013 Lexus RX 350 contacted the Colusa Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim stopped in a gas station and went inside to pay for the gas. Unfortunately the victim left the keys in the Lexus with the engine running because of the heat of the day, and the thief jumped in the car and fled.

The Colusa PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lexus.

A short while later officers from the Antioch Police Department and the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Lexus to the 1700 block of Mahogany Drive in Antioch. The officers observed the Lexus parked and abandoned in this residential neighborhood.

The Lexus was intact and did not suffer any damage. The Lexus was towed for safekeeping to be released to the owner later.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lexus RX 350 in March 2013 at Lexus of Sacramento.
