The owner of a 1998 Dodge Caravan contacted the New York Police Department 115 Precinct to report that his vehicle was stolen from the Corona sections of Queens, NY, from in front of his house.

The NYPD 115 Precinct verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge Caravan.

A short while later, Police Officers from the 112 precinct Forest Hills Queens picked up the silent signal from the LoJack® System installed on the stolen Dodge Caravan on their LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the signal into the Rego Park section of Queens. They tracked the Dodge to a well-traveled, but out of the way thoroughfare but has been known as an area where they store stolen vehicles. The officers decided to stake the Dodge out. After a short while when no one showed up they took the Dodge into custody. The Dodge was recovered with no damage. However the rear seats had been removed and were placed in the nearby bushes. This was possibly an indication that the Dodge was probably going to be used to commit another theft, most likely that of a motorcycle. The owner was contacted and was present on the scene. He was elated that his Dodge was recovered so quickly, especially with no damage on it.  The owner stated that he was real happy that his Dodge was equipped with LoJack otherwise it may not have been recovered at all.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 1998 Dodge Caravan on May 1998 by Hempstead Dodge in Hempstead Long Island, New York.
