The owners of a 2002 Toyota Camry contacted the California Highway Patrol Rancho Cordova Area to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim indicated she parked and locked her vehicle and when she came out later the Camry was missing. The victim advised officers she had been in a dispute with a male friend and supplied his name as a suspect in the theft.

The CHP verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Less than 2 hours later, officers with the Citrus Heights Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Camry to the area of Greenback and Auburn Blvd. The officers observed the Camry parked and abandoned at the curb in this residential area. Officers checked the area and identified a suspect who was questioned and then arrested for the theft.

The victim was contacted and responded to take possession of her now recovered Camry.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in April 2002 by LoJack Direct Sales.
