The owners of a 2004 Chevrolet Astro Van contacted the Los Angeles Police Department-Central Division to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The LAPD officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Five (5) minutes later, patrol officers from the LAPD-Mission Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers, along with the LAPD “Air 10” flight officers, tracked the Chevrolet to the area of Sepulveda Blvd and Lanark Street. The patrol officers conducted a felony traffic stop. The driver was taken into custody for auto theft related charges without incident. This is the second time in three months that this Chevrolet was reported stolen, tracked by Law Enforcement and recovered with a suspect in custody.

The Chevrolet was impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Astro van in August 2004.
