The owner of a 2005 Toyota Corolla 4-door sedan contacted the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime during the night. It was determined that the owner might have left the keys in the Toyota weeks before the car was stolen and the thief returned to steal the car.

The responding deputy prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.

Later that afternoon a Florida Highway Patrol trooper picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Corolla on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) while escorting a truck to a truck stop in South Bay.  After terminating their escort, the trooper began tracking the stolen Corolla by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The trooper, along with their backup, located the Corolla in the rear of a repair shop in the 300 block of US 27, South Bay. The Palm Beach County SO responded and processed the Corolla for possible evidence. The Corolla was recovered with no visible theft damage, released to the owner and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2005 Toyota Corolla in May 2007 by Palm Beach Toyota in West Palm Beach, Florida.
