The owners of a 2006 Toyota 4Runner contacted the Salt Lake City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

A police officer verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers.  This action automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota and it began sending out its silent signal to the police.

Officers with the Salt Lake City PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers promptly tracked the Toyota to the general area of 550 East and 2100 South in Salt Lake City where they found the vehicle unoccupied.  The Toyota was taken into custody for return to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota 4Runner in April 2006 in New Jersey by Route 1 Toyota at the request of the vehicle’s first owner.
