The owners of a 2009 Mercedes Benz Smart Car contacted the Baltimore County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home in the 8500 block Leefield Road in the Parkville area of Baltimore County, Maryland.

The Baltimore County Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Smart Car.

A short while later officers from the Baltimore City Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Smart Car with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Smart Car to the 2000 block Kennedy Avenue in Baltimore City. At that location, officers observed the Smart Car being operated by the theft suspect. Officers stopped the Smart Car and placed the theft suspect under arrest. Officers recovered the undamaged Smart Car and notified the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2009 Mercedes Benz Smart Car during September 2009 by Mercedes Benz of Annapolis in Annapolis, Maryland.
