The owners of a 2009 Toyota Corolla contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen.

The LAPD West Los Angeles verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Only 14 minutes later officers from the Redondo Beach Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to a store on Pacific Coast Highway.  The officers found the Toyota parked in the store parking lot with no one inside.  The Redondo Beach PD set up a surveillance of the Toyota.  A short time later the officers saw a male and female approach the stolen Toyota.  Before they could leave in the Toyota the officers detained the couple.  Through their investigation the officers determined they were involved in the theft of the Toyota. The couple was arrested and the Toyota was recovered.  A little while later the shop owner was contacted by another female inquiring about the recovered Toyota.  The shop owner contacted the Redondo Beach PD and officers responded back to the location.  The officers contacted the female and after interviewing her they determined she was also involved in the theft of the Toyota.  The second female was arrested.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Corolla in October 2008 by Torrance Toyota in Torrance, CA.
